Pownce
I just got invited to Pownce. Thanks to salvatore for that. It’s like Twitter but way better. It allows users to do micro-blogging, and share links and files between each other. You can follow my public profile here. I just wish I could use Pownce also from my Nokia N800 or from my mobile phone. It would be more real-time that way since I’m carrying those with me pretty much all the time. Well, maybe they’ll open an API soon so I could write some client for that purpose then. Btw, I’ve got couple of invites left to share if someone is interested.

Hi Teemu,
You might want to check out www.jaiku.com as they do have an open policy and an API which is fully available. I find it more feature rich then twitter as it can incorporate users RSS feeds as well.
There seems to be a really powerfull S60 client as well but my phone doesn’t support that at the moment
Would apreciate a invite to pownce just to get a feel of it but not sure it will outrun jaiku.

Hi Tjardick,
I’ve heard about Jaiku and used it even a little. To me it seemed to be somewhat too complicated and I don’t have a phone that I could use their mobile client on. To me Pownce sits somewhere between Twitter and Jaiku which fits better for me for now. Let’s see if I manage to get a better phone in near future and if I then still want to go for Jaiku.

Have you tried accessing Pownce with javascript turned off in Opera? I’m using Safari 3.0 with Javascript turned off and it seems to work fine and it appears to be much faster.

Thanks Jerome. That was an interesting piece of information. I should try that.
