Google Calendar is out - not for Nokia 770 though
I noticed this morning that Google Calendar is available for public. I’ve been waiting it since I heard that it was coming, since I would have liked to use it on my Nokia 770. Unfortunately it does not work yet with Opera browser as you can see from the screenshot below. I need to wait still…

…and what happens if you click “cancel” ?

Heh.. I never read that error message to the end.
I just pressed ok. But still, it only shows the menu on the left and not the calendar.

Well, yahoo’s calendar works great on the 770. And what’s more, if you have a symbian phone you can sync your info with the phone’s built-in calendar. Pretty sweet.

[…] On the negative side, there is no SyncML support, but I didn’t really expect that would be available at launch. Given Google’s earlier commitment to mobile devices, I expect they’ll come up with something eventually (if not SyncML, then perhaps their own Symbian mobile calendar app). Another minus is that it doesn’t seem to work in Opera, which means it doesn’t work on the Nokia 770. […]

Unfortunately it doesn’t work if you OK or Cancel the message, or if you login through the main page. Damm

Yeah.. the issue seems to be the Opera browser, since I think I read somewhere that someone got it working with the mozilla based beta browser for Nokia 770. Too bad it is still too buggy.

Anyone who has editing control of their own web site can see their Google calendar on the Nokia 770. here is HOW:
1. On your PC, Click the down arrow next to your calendar listing on the left side of your google calendar page and choose CALENDAR SETTINGS from the drop-down.
2. Under “Private Address” in this page, choose the HTML icon.
3. A POP-UP will appear. Click the link to “Configuration Tool”
4. This page will format HTML you can paste into a private address web page you create to display your Google calendar. (choose option 2 under CONTROLS so the Google Icon will not take the top 1/3 of the page.
5. After copying the resulting code to a file or clipboard, simply create your own calendar page on your own web site. Paste the html into the body of the code view of your web page and publish/save it. You may want to set your web site robots.txt file to ignore this calendar page, thus keeping it a bit more private (KGP, not PGP!)
Shortcomings - yes, but better than no access to your Google Calendar!

Or use minimo? Works for me.

Sounds great, but minimo will not install on my 770. All 5 of the the .deb files return a “Package Conflict” message.
