Nokia 770 gaming
As I earlier promised, I tested out the games for Nokia 770 ported by Marcelo Oliveira. Here are screenshots from each game (actually they are photos taken with my digicam, since I couldn’t figure out how to take screenshots ingame). I also wrote some comments about the games that I have had time to actually test. I have to say that I’m quite impressed about the gaming capabilities of Nokia 770. These games are good for killing time on a bus or something… and I believe this is only a start.

Doom
Ok.. this game needs no introductions. The famous game from iD Software. You guessed right, it’s Doom and it’s here on Nokia 770. It runs perfectly as you probably seen already on video clips on the net. It’s fairly natural to play with the stylus once you get used to it. Best part of this is that it supports also multiplayer mode. Haven’t tested that yet… there aren’t too many people with 770 around yet. Anyhow… by far the best game on 770 currently.

Battlegweled
This is a nice puzzle game based on Bejeweled that also supports multiplayer. You can play it alone too. Good fun…

Maemoblocks
A tetris clone. Really nice looking. Display is turned on the longer side which gives more space for a game like this. I like it…

Maemodrac
Simple solitaire game based on Drac. This is really nice to play with the stylus. This is usually the game to kill time when sitting in front of your computer. Now you can kill time anywhere.

Maemosweeper
Minesweeper port for Maemo. Same applies for this as for the previous game…

Tux Pux
Tux Pux port for 770. This was kinda difficult to play. Or maybe I just don’t know how..

Crazy Parking
Haven’t played this one too much yet.

Ice Braker
Another game that I haven’t had time to test yet.

Did you mean for the first two screenshots (doom) to be the same image?

Actually yes.
This just shows how lazy I am. I wanted some image to appear on the main page of blog and of course Doom would be the one to show… Then I also had to put one image under the “review” and was too lazy to take another picture of it.

Hello Teemu,
I was searching for a solitaire game for my 770 but cannot seem to find one. I found your site through a google search and I see a screen shot of the game, but I can’t figure out how to find/install it.
I am new to Linux and the Nokia 770 and I’m not a geek. I have a basic understanding of computers; built windows machines, troublshooted problems and flashed pda’s etc…, but no actual programing other than some editing of visual basic and SQL stuff.
Regarding the Nokia 770; it operates as I expected it would and with the GPE PIM software it will perform most of the functions of a PDA. Although most of the reviews I have read from the mainstream media pretty much slam the device, I think they are being to hard on it. Battery life is better than my Palm TX or my old HP 3115 PDA’s and the screen is a significant improvement. Enough rambling….If you can offer some help, I would appreciate it.
Thanks and Godspeed,
Phil

Hello Again,
…Right after I posted this, I realized that the Solitaire type game was on the Maemo.org website…MAEMO DRAC.
Sorry.

Hi Teemu,
Like Phil I have am new to the Nokia 770 and although I am ok with PC’s I do need a little hand holding when it comes to installing software on the 770. Is there any chance you could provide a brief basic guide for software installation. I really would like to play solitaire type games etc. to while away the time waiting for plane connections. By the way there are many missing installation files on Maemo, is there anywhere else they can be found?
Hope you can help. Many thanks, Tony
