Google Adsense has made Firefox referrals now available also internationally. Ok, so what does this mean? It means that you can put an adsense referral link to your webpage and you get a one dollar each time some windows user downloads Firefox browser via that link. You need Google adsense account for that of course. If you want to promote Firefox more efficiently, you should check www.explorerdestroyer.com. As I earlier promised, I tested out the games for Nokia 770 ported by Marcelo Oliveira. Here are screenshots from each game (actually they are photos taken with my digicam, since I couldn’t figure out how to take screenshots ingame). I also wrote some comments about the games that I have had time to actually test. I have to say that I’m quite impressed about the gaming capabilities of Nokia 770. These games are good for killing time on a bus or something… and I believe this is only a start. Click below the picture to read more…

Nokia has already released a software update for 770. I just recently updated mine. It was relatively easy. Once you type your 770’s MAC address to the form on the software upgrade page you can get to the actual download page. From there you can get an upgrade software that works on Windows (Check here if you have Linux of Mac OS). I had some minor problems when I tried to update the device. I was doing this on Windows XP. At the first time I got an error message saying that the update software was not able to write on the USB device. I don’t know whether there was something wrong with the Windows XP or what, but on the second time the update went through. It was relatively easy to do and I think anyone who can attach an USB device on their computer will be able to do it. I cannot say much about the improvements in this version yet, but at least it seems like it’s a little faster to use.

I know that Nokia 770 is no PSP (and the other way around), but Marcelo Oliveira has done great job releasing a number of games for Nokia 770. These include Doom (with multiplayer), MaemoBlocks, MaemoSwap etc… It’s a shame that I left my 770 home today so I won’t be able to test those yet. Well, maybe it’s better that I get even some work done. You can count on me to write some reviews about those games during the weekend.

Ok… since there isn’t too much time left before Firefox 1.5 will be released, I thought it might be nice to go through some good reasons to switch from Internet Explorer to Firefox. www.killbillsbrowser.com provides just that. The reasons listed there shouldn’t bee taken too seriously, but there is a point there.

For website/blog owners in US I’d like to note that there is a real reason to start converting people using Firefox since using Google Adsense it is possible to earn a dollar each time someone installs a Firefox through your site. Unfortunately for now this only works for US residents. For others I recommend registering on spreadfirefox.com.

Now I finally got it. I have to say that I’m really impressed how easy it is to use. The start-up wizard did pretty much everything I needed and I got Internet connection up right away. It’s a shame that I can’t use the WLAN at the office because of the VPN, but with 3G it worked also nicely.

This was quite interesting news. According to Business Opportunities Weblog my blog is worth nearly $3000. Anyone interested? I sort of could use the money.

So the 770 is now in stock and ready for order at least in Finland. I made the order and now the timer is ticking. When will it arrive… Delivery time is supposed to be 3-4 days, but lets see.

Today Nokia opened site called opensource.nokia.com. There isn’t much new on the site, since most of the stuff that is actually open source on that site has been that for some time already. Like for example Nokia’s Sofia SIP stack has been available already from sourceforge.net.

On the projects page, you can see the list of “open source” projects by Nokia. I wrote the open source in quotes since not all projects on the site are yet open source. Anyhow it’s really nice to see stuff like Python for Series 60 there so probably it will be soon open source as well.

Another interesting project is Series 60 OSS Browser. It’s still under development, but let’s hope we’ll get a decent browser for series 60 some day. Ok, ok…. Opera is quite good as well, but getting an open source browser for my phone would be too good to be true.
